I wanted to take this opportunity on behalf of myself and the NYSMBA, to wish you, your clubs and it's members a very happy Christmas and a healthy and happy 2018.
I hope throughout the coming new year to meet those of you whom I have not met yet.
2017 has been a busy time within the NYSMBA and short mat bowls. I wish to thank you all for the work you do in making the running of the association easier. All club contacts are someone who has willing given their details, to act as a point of contact for their club. People willing to do this are an indeed credit to themselves and their club. Thank you all for doing this and passing on any information you receive.
Short mat bowls continues to be an ever growing force in North Yorkshire, I am extremely proud of our county and everyone in it. I have the belief that we have something very special going on in North Yorkshire, that is down to all its members, officers and officials. I am extremely proud to be serving as your Chairman.
Short Mat Bowls maybe, has served as somewhat of a distraction to the ever changing world in which we live. The adverse world continues to change, the threat of terror looming every day. This year with devastating attacks in London, Manchester and across the world. The increase in poverty becoming evermore visible. The concern of Brexit and the strength of world leaders. People suffering from the spread of illness and disease
Wether we use Short Mat Bowls as a distraction or just see it as a game. It is something we are all united in. In that maybe I hope, we are United in the face of Terror, Poverty, Change, Illness and Disease.
Together we can make a difference, even if that's just playing bowls, having a laugh, sharing a joke or a smile. These things no matter how small, they can make an impact and change someones day.
So I wish you a Happy Christmas and a Healthy and Happy 2018 and a good bowling year.
Kind regards and best wishes,

It is with much sadness that I have to report the passing of Mary.

After problems that developed on Christmas Eve whilst spending time with her family in Hertfordshire she was admitted to Stevenage Hospital where further complications arose and these finally got the better of her earlier this morning (January 8th)

Mary made many friends in the bowling world and together with her husband Gordon (who served as NYSMBA Secretary and Kyle Valley league Chairman) was an extremely extremely keen and socially minded bowler for Easingwold - both inside and out.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to her son Paul and daughter Deborah at this very upsetting time.

Mary's wish was to be buried alongside her husband in Easingwold and further details will be posted here once they are known.

February 14th (11.30) at Easingwold Parish Church.

Refreshments afterwards at the George Hotel
